Happy Birthday Meia and Maddie

I wanted to say Happy Birthday Meia and Maddie. Both of the girls will turn 7 this week. Maddie's birthday is on Wednesday, and Meia's is Friday. I can't believe how big they are getting. It feels like just the other day we were changing diapers, and now we are going to Hanna Montana concerts/movies. Time sure does go by fast!

HAPPY BIRTHDAY GIRLS!!!

Long time no update!

I thought I would update everyone on what we have been doing lately. Sorry I have not written in awhile, but sometimes I just don't know what to write about. Tonight I go back to work after being off work a week. It has been a great week off, but time to go back to work. Last Friday me, my sister, and Rad went to the bookstore. It was great being in my second home! I got the second and third book to the Wideacre Trilogy I have been reading. I have also started working out again. I don't know how long I will keep it up though. Meia and Alec have been busy with school work. Meia has her first concert at school next Tuesday night. She is very excited for us to come hear her sing. This Saturday is Phoun's birthday. I don't know what to get him or what to do! He is so hard to buy for...he never wants anything. If anyone has any ideas what to do for him let me know. I hope to start updating more so stay tuned.

Move over Valentine's Day Because St. Patrick's Day is Coming

Let me start my post off by saying I hope everyone had a good Valentine's Day. To my sister that had to work,"Happy late Valentine's Day". Me and Phoun were able to go to dinner, see a movie, and spend the night to ourselves thanks to my mom and Jeff. My mom let Alec spend the night with her, and Meia spent the night with Maddie. Jeff was the babysitter since Christy was at work. It was a nice night, but I missed the kids. I kept trying to get Alec to go to the movies with us, or to come home early rather than spend the night. I guess I am just not used to having time alone. I need to work on that one because me and Phoun do need to have time to ourselves. Well I am glad that Valentines Day is finally over. Valentine's Day makes me a little tired to say the least. I am ready for the up and coming holiday. I love St. Patrick's Day, and probably for silly reasons. My favorite color is green so I get a special day to wear it. I love all the OLD leprechaun movies they put on T.V in March. Also I love Ireland and Irish history. My reasons are silly, but they are fun too.

Assisted Suicide

I was watching TV this morning while waiting to go to work when a very interesting topic and interview came up. The former lawyer and now author of the book The Last Goodnights was on to talk about his story. The book is his side of the story of a 10 year secret that he has kept from his family including his sisters. The secret is that he aided in the death of both his terminally ill parents. His father was rapidly dying from cancer, and his mother was deteriorating and would eventually die from Alzheimer's. The cocktail of pills was administered at different times frames, but he does admit to giving each of them the cocktails. Later in the interview he does say that he held his mother and told her every sweet thing he could as she passed. He is aware that he may go to jail. Assisted suicide is only legal in certain states, and I think it is only like one to two. By coming forward with his story John West hope to make assisted suicide legal. I have thought all day about this interview, and it still bothers me in so many ways. As a nurse I feel we must do preserve life and respect life. I feel that if we were to legalize this it could be abused in so many ways. I have also had to see someone pass away right in front of me, and I can remember wanting nothing more than for them to not have to suffer anymore. One other point I feel I need to make is if this were to be leaglized and it became the doctors responsibliy to end the patients life what would happen to their soul on their judgement day? Would they have to pay for all the lives they took even if it was a act of mercy? I think I an going to have to get this man's book to understand because I don't think I could have done what he did.

Me and Alec have been reading the book Inkheart lately so that we can see the movie this weekend. I finished the book last night, and Alec is almost done. He probably would have been done before me, but he take a break on the weekends to play video games. If the movie is as good as the book I think it will be a cute kids movie. We did not read the Harry Potter books before we went to go see the movie so I thought it was important to read the book this time. I am really trying to get the kids more involved with reading. It is easy to get Alec to read more, but I struggle with Meia. She is okay with me reading to her, but when I try to get her to read to me it is another story. I was a lot like her when I was young. I hated reading, and god forbid the teacher call on me to read aloud. I love to read now, so maybe she will eventually. This book is a series just in case anyone is interested in getting it for their kids.
